[May 15, 2008] The District 31 Elephant Club recently contributed $300 to the District 32 Republican Club’s efforts to keep the voters of Anne Arundel County informed on what their elected officials are doing down in Annapolis.
The Voter Information Program (VIP) is a grassroots effort by the District 32 Republican Club to keep the citizens of District 32 informed on how their elected officials are voting on issues important to the residents of Anne Arundel County.

“The Elephant Club is extremely pleased to contribute to the District 32 Club’s campaign to inform voter of what their current elected officials are really doing,” said John Spenser, Treasurer of the Elephant Club.
Each quarter the VIP will highlight elected official’s voting records on different topics of importance to the citizens of District 32. This quarter the District 32 Republican Club highlighted local officials voting record on taxes and how it affects the citizens of District 32.
“We decided to begin the VIP with the subject of taxes. With what the Special Session did, taxes are on everybody’s minds,” said Gerry Starr, president of the District 32 Republican Club.
Wayne Smith, Recording Secretary for the District 32 Club, agreed. “It’s the largest tax increase in Maryland history. The public has a right to know that the people they sent to Annapolis are voting to raise their taxes.”
In presenting the check to the visiting members of the District 32 Republican Club, Mr. Spenser voiced the Elephant Club’s support for the VIP campaign. “We look forward to working with your club over the long term to make sure that voters in 2010 are more knowledgeable about how the General Assembly has increased our tax burden and created yet more ineffective programs,” Mr. Spenser said.
